Solutions / Revenue assurance
Bring contract values and billing into agreement.
Pricing schedules change. Services vary. Billing records follow their own timetable. Revenue assurance helps finance teams check whether those moving parts still agree.
Overview
An effective revenue assurance process tests invoiced amounts against the commercial basis for the charge. It is particularly useful when agreements have recurring fees, tiered pricing, scheduled increases or numerous service lines.
Where differences can appear
An annual price increase may be agreed but never carried through to billing. An additional service may be approved but not reflected in an invoice. A legitimate discount may be recorded without its supporting authorization.
Each situation needs a different response. The first task is to separate the exception from the reason behind it.
What a good review produces
A useful result identifies the relevant agreement, the period, the calculation, the related financial entry and the issue requiring review. It should be possible for a finance colleague to challenge the finding and trace it back to source.
A suspected shortfall is not recognized revenue or recovered cash until it has been validated and appropriately resolved.
Built for financial accountability
Kardivon is developing a disciplined approach to this review for contract-intensive organizations. The focus is accuracy and context, rather than speculative recovery promises.
The people accountable for billing remain in control of how any finding is handled.
Questions and answers
A closer look.
What is the difference between revenue assurance and an audit?
Revenue assurance focuses on recurring controls that help detect potential billing exceptions. An audit may have a broader, formally defined scope and assurance standard.
Can an overcharge also be flagged?
Yes. A fair reconciliation should identify potential overbilling as well as underbilling; neither should be presumed correct without review.
